What is metered bandwidth actually costing you?

Why the calculator tells you when we lose
A customer who discovers from an invoice that metered bandwidth was cheaper has little reason to come back, so this page says it first. The benchmarks are published and dated so anyone can check them. The trial exists so you can try the network on your own job.
How the maths works
- Divide monthly GB by your number of runs to get data per run. Divide that by 0.45 and your hours per run to find the required Mbps, then choose the smallest available plan speed that fits.
- One Mbps for 3,600 seconds moves 3,600 megabits. Divide by eight bits per byte: 450 MB, or 0.45 GB. This is a theoretical ceiling, before overhead and slow targets.
- Multiply monthly GB by the benchmark rate for your volume. For per-run unlimited, round each run’s window up to whole hours, days or weeks, pick the cheapest available billing option, then multiply by runs.
- For monthly unlimited, check that speed × 0.45 × 720 can carry your data. For GB-based plans, find the cheapest combination of current whole traffic packs that covers your volume.
Questions
Is unlimited really unlimited?
Unlimited plans have no per-GB charge. Your plan speed limits how much traffic you can move in the time purchased. Our Acceptable Use Policy applies.
Why do you bill whole hours?
Plans are sold in complete time periods. A 1.2-hour window needs two hourly periods, or a daily or weekly plan if that costs less. The calculator compares those options for each run.
What if my target is slow?
Your target, connection concurrency and network conditions can reduce throughput. Give the run more time and recalculate. The estimate is not a speed guarantee; use the trial to measure a real job.
Do I need an account to use this?
No. Calculate and share results without an account or email. An email address is only needed if you request the breakdown.
Where do the metered prices come from?
Proxyway’s 2026 Proxy Market Research, updated June 30, 2026. We use the published average prices at 5, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 GB, not medians. Between benchmarks we use the nearest lower volume; below 50 GB we use the 5 GB benchmark. Above 1,000 GB we keep the 1,000 GB rate. Individual quotes can be lower or higher.
Does the cheapest option always meet my deadline?
The recommended unlimited speed fits your chosen window in ideal conditions. GB-based services and other companies’ plans can have different speed limits. Overlapping jobs share a monthly plan’s speed. This is a cost comparison, not a promise of equivalent performance.
