What you need before you start
- Dolphin Anty for Windows, macOS or Linux. It updates itself; the status bar shows your version (we tested 2026.274.13459 on macOS).
- The right Dolphin plan. The Free plan has 5 profiles and stores up to 50 proxies, added one at a time. Pasting a list of proxies, bulk proxy assignment and API automation need a paid plan: on the Free plan, Dolphin shows "Bulk proxy addition is available on the Starter plan and above".
- A TrueProxies Traffic pack (residential IPv4, pay per GB) or the one-hour free trial. The trial supports country targeting and sticky sessions, without
lifetime; city, region, ASN and session lifetimes need a Traffic pack. - Your host, username and password from the TrueProxies dashboard (where to find them). Examples use
YOUR_HOST,YOUR_USERNAMEandYOUR_PASSWORD.
Use username and password authentication: targeting and sessions live in the username, so a bare host:port entry (which needs your IP on the trusted IP list) can't give each profile its own session.
Which TrueProxies proxy to use in Dolphin Anty
| TrueProxies proxy | Fit for Dolphin Anty profiles | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic pack (residential IPv4, pay per GB) | Sticky sessions from 1 minute to 24 hours; country, region, city and ASN targeting; HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 | Recommended |
| Datacenter IPv6 | A private /48 in one city; reaches only sites that have an IPv6 address | Only for IPv6-ready targets |
| Static ISP | One IP held for weeks | Not offered |
| Mobile | Carrier IPs | Not offered |
Traffic packs draw on 50M+ residential IPs in 150+ countries (locations) and cost $1.64/GB for 1 GB, $0.97/GB at 100 GB and $0.81/GB at 1,000 GB. Bigger packs go down to $0.60/GB at 5,000 GB (full ladder). Datacenter IPv6 is from $3.99/day; test targets with the IPv6 test first. See ISP vs residential, residential vs datacenter and the calculator.
Proxy formats Dolphin Anty accepts
Dolphin documents three layouts, and each can take a type prefix. Paste any string row into New Proxy in a profile, Add Proxy on the Proxy screen or the bulk options below; the API takes the same values as fields.
| Format as Dolphin documents it | TrueProxies example | Where it works |
|---|---|---|
host:port | YOUR_HOST:8080 (type: HTTP) | Single paste, bulk. Trusted IP list only |
host:port:login:password | YOUR_HOST:8080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD (type: HTTP) | Single paste, bulk |
login:password@host:port | YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:8080 (type: HTTP) | Single paste, bulk |
type://host:port | http://YOUR_HOST:8080 | Single paste, bulk. Trusted IP list only |
type://login:password@host:port | socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-country-de-city-berlin-session-shopde01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080 | Single paste, bulk |
type://host:port:login:password | socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-fr-city-paris-session-shopfr01:YOUR_PASSWORD | Single paste, bulk |
Any of the above + :name | socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-ca-city-toronto-session-qaca01:YOUR_PASSWORD:qaca01 | Single paste, bulk |
Any of the above + [LINK] (IP change link) | Leave it off: with TrueProxies you change the IP by changing the session ID | Single paste, bulk |
API fields type, host, port, login, password, name, changeIpUrl | type=socks5, host=YOUR_HOST, port=1080, login=YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01-lifetime-86400, password=YOUR_PASSWORD, name=shopus01 | API |
Our test: Five saved credential entries worked over HTTP and SOCKS5. The documented layouts were not each tested separately; bulk addition was unavailable on the Free plan..
Rules that keep every format working
- Match the type to the port:
socks5://with 1080,http://with 8080, or set the type in the proxy window. Skipsocks4://, which TrueProxies doesn't serve. - Paste clean strings. Dolphin's FAQ traces "can't add a proxy" errors to wrong layouts, extra spaces, stray symbols and typos.
- Name proxies after profiles. A
:namesuch asqaca01keeps the Proxy screen readable across client profiles. - Spell options exactly. The gateway refuses a wrong value such as
country-usawith a 407 and its targeting reason, so a typo fails the check rather than connecting from the wrong place.
How to add a proxy to a Dolphin Anty profile
- On Browser Profiles, click Create profile in the top right corner. For an existing profile, click the three dots next to it and choose Edit.
- Name the profile after its session ID (
shopus01) so profile, proxy and IP are easy to match. - In the proxy field, choose New Proxy.
- Paste your string, for example
socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080. - Click the arrows at the right edge of the line to check the connection and see the IP's geolocation and time zone.
- Leave Link to change IP empty; it's for providers that change IPs through a URL.
- Click Create profile (Save when editing), then Start. Dolphin won't open a profile whose proxy fails its check, which protects your real IP.
Save proxies first, or change one profile
For a reusable list, open Proxy in the left menu and click Add Proxy. Profiles pick saved proxies with Select a proxy; Share opens them to teammates on the same Dolphin account.
To swap one profile's proxy, click the pencil in the Proxy column on Browser Profiles (add the column under Customize columns if it's hidden) and choose No proxy, New proxy or Select a proxy. No proxy only detaches it; to remove a proxy for good, tick it on the Proxy screen and click Delete.
Add proxies in bulk
Three bulk paths, one rule: give every line its own session ID and verify the exit in each profile. Separate sessions can receive the same IP.
Paste a list on the Proxy screen
On the Starter plan and above, click Add Proxy, open Mass addition, paste one proxy per line and save. On the Free plan, Mass addition shows an upgrade prompt, so add proxies one at a time through Quick input.
socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD:shopus01
socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD:shopuk01
socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-de-city-berlin-session-shopde01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD:shopde01
http://YOUR_HOST:8080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-fr-city-paris-session-qafr01-lifetime-3600:YOUR_PASSWORD:qafr01Each saved proxy shows a status: Active, Unknown or a red Error. To re-check, tick the proxies and click the check icon in the bottom action bar.
Assign proxies to many profiles
On a paid plan, tick the profiles on Browser Profiles, click Change Proxy (the chain icon) in the bottom action bar, choose Manual or Random, pick the proxies and click Save. Dolphin's October 2025 update added Sequential and Every N profiles distribution, up to 500 proxies at a time.
For one IP per profile, select one named proxy per profile and keep the defaults, Manual and Sequential. Random doesn't tie a proxy to a profile, and Every N profiles puts several profiles on one IP.
Create profiles from the import template
Click Download template in the bulk import window (Import-template-dolphin{anty}.xlsx), fill one row per profile without changing the columns, add the file or click From file, run Check data, then click Create profile. The Smart Data Import tab also reads .txt, .csv and .xlsx files and can take proxies From file.
| Profile name | Proxy |
|---|---|
| shopus01 | socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080 |
| shopuk01 | socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01-lifetime-86400:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080 |
| qade01 | http://YOUR_USERNAME-country-de-city-berlin-session-qade01-lifetime-3600:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:8080 |
| qaca01 | http://YOUR_USERNAME-country-ca-city-toronto-session-qaca01-lifetime-3600:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:8080 |
Other columns (cookies, user-agent and more) are omitted; keep the headers exactly as they are in the downloaded template.
Add proxies through the Dolphin Anty API
Dolphin's Remote API at https://dolphin-anty-api.com manages saved proxies: POST /proxy creates one, GET /proxy lists them, and PATCH or DELETE on /proxy/:proxy_id edits or removes one. Authenticate with a Bearer token from your Dolphin personal area. Fields: type (http, socks5 or socks4), host, port, login, password, name and changeIpUrl.
export DOLPHIN_API_TOKEN="your Dolphin API token"
export TP_PROXY_HOST="YOUR_HOST"
export TP_PROXY_USER="YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01-lifetime-86400"
export TP_PROXY_PASS="YOUR_PASSWORD"
curl -X POST "https://dolphin-anty-api.com/proxy" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $DOLPHIN_API_TOKEN" \
--data-urlencode "type=socks5" \
--data-urlencode "host=$TP_PROXY_HOST" \
--data-urlencode "port=1080" \
--data-urlencode "login=$TP_PROXY_USER" \
--data-urlencode "password=$TP_PROXY_PASS" \
--data-urlencode "name=shopuk01"POST /browser_profiles attaches a proxy by proxy[id] (a saved proxy) or inline as proxy[type], proxy[host], proxy[port], proxy[login] and proxy[password]. Build each session ID from the profile name to manage its session independently.
The Local API (http://localhost:3001/v1.0, while the app runs on the same machine) signs in with POST /auth/login-with-token and starts profiles with GET /browser_profiles/PROFILE_ID/start?automation=1. Automation needs a paid plan; API-added proxies count toward the Free plan's 50. Full reference: Dolphin Anty API.
One sticky session per profile
Without a session ID, Traffic pack connections rotate, so a profile's IP can change mid-task, which can sign you out of sites and shift its location. Give each profile its own session named after it: shopuk01, shopus01, qade01. Session IDs take 1 to 32 letters or digits; no hyphens or underscores, since the hyphen separates options.
Set the lifetime by task: lifetime-86400 (24 hours, the maximum) for a profile you return to all day, lifetime-3600 for a QA pass. Without it, a session holds its IP only briefly. The range is 60 to 86400 seconds.
Sessions are held on a best-effort basis: if the residential exit goes offline, the session gets a new IP. Re-check the proxy to confirm the new location and time zone. For a fresh IP on purpose, change the session ID (shopuk01 to shopuk02).
The same session ID asks for the same exit IP, so never share one between profiles; transfer a profile and its proxy together. One IP for weeks needs a static ISP proxy, which TrueProxies doesn't offer. More in sticky vs rotating proxies.
Match the profile to the proxy location
Set these in the profile:
- Timezone: Auto takes it from the proxy. Manual must match the IP.
- Language: Auto follows the proxy's country. Change it only for localized QA that needs a set language.
- Geolocation: Auto uses the IP. Manual takes latitude, longitude and accuracy.
- WebRTC: Altered reports the proxy's IP. Real exposes your own connection's IP; Off, Without UDP and Manual are the other modes.
- DNS comes from the proxy, per Dolphin's FAQ, so there's nothing to set.
Over the API: "timezone": {"mode": "auto"}, "locale": {"mode": "auto"} and "webrtc": {"mode": "altered"}.
In countries with several time zones, country-only sessions can exit in Chicago one day and New York the next. Add a city (country-us-city-chicago) or region (country-us-region-NY) to keep IP, time zone and geolocation aligned (Traffic packs only). Dolphin reads locations with its own checker, so if it shows a different city than you targeted, the IP databases disagree.
Then open the IP leak test, WebRTC leak test and DNS leak test in each new profile.
HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 in Dolphin Anty
Dolphin's API lists three proxy types, http, socks5 and socks4, matching the prefixes in its docs. Neither documents an HTTPS type (TLS between browser and proxy) or the SSH type some third-party guides mention. Our tested version's type list: HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 and SSH. No HTTPS option..
| Dolphin type | TrueProxies port | Notes |
|---|---|---|
http | 8080 | Easiest to diagnose: failures return a readable reason |
socks5 | 1080 | Same result in profiles; failures carry no reason text |
| HTTPS | 8443 | Not offered in the version we tested; use http on 8080. Never pair 8443 with http: it expects TLS to the proxy |
socks4 | None | Not served |
Both types load HTTPS websites; the type only sets how Dolphin talks to the gateway. More in HTTP vs SOCKS5.
IPv6: residential exits are IPv4 and can't reach IPv6-only sites. Datacenter IPv6 exits reach only sites with an IPv6 address; use your city's host with no country or city options, as in socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-session-qa01-lifetime-3600:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080. Dolphin's docs don't say whether its check passes through an IPv6-only exit, and a failed check blocks the profile. Our result: Not tested..
Dolphin Anty proxy errors and fixes
| On-screen message | What it usually means | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| "Failed to establish a proxy connection. Check proxy operation, if possible, with an external VPN or other access point to rule out a GEO connection conflict." | The check couldn't connect: wrong credentials or username options, an ended plan or trial, or a network blocking the gateway | Read the reason in the proxy checker. If the proxy passes there, try another network |
| "Error checking connection to proxy" (red mark by Start) | The proxy failed its check, so Dolphin won't open the profile | Fix the cause the checker reports, then Start again. |
| Red arrows on Browser Profiles, or a red Error status on the Proxy screen | The last check failed | Fix, then re-check. Repeated failed attempts trigger a rate limit (a bare 407 in the checker); wait 60 seconds |
| "ValidationError: 'port' length must be less than or equal to 5 characters long" or "validationNew.app_rules_proxy_rule" | An unsupported layout, such as login:password:host:port | Reorder to host:port:login:password or login:password@host:port; remove spaces |
| "You have reached the proxy limit of your current plan" | The Free plan's 50-proxy cap | Delete unused proxies, or upgrade |
| "ETIMEDOUT", "Error: socket hang up", "ECONNRESET" or "Timeout exceeded 60001 ms" | Network or proxy trouble while a profile starts or closes | Test the proxy in the checker, then switch networks |
| "This site can't be reached" inside a profile | The site, your network or the gateway refused that destination | Run the curl command below against that site |
Read the gateway's exact reason
Dolphin Anty shows its own generic error and hides the gateway's reason. Paste the same proxy into the TrueProxies proxy checker or run it with curl over HTTP on port 8080. SOCKS5 carries no reason text, so diagnose over HTTP.
curl -v -x "http://YOUR_HOST:8080" \
-U "YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01:YOUR_PASSWORD" \
https://example.comLook for the X-Proxy-Reason header; the 407 body carries the same text. Common reasons behind a failed Dolphin check:
- "Wrong proxy password. Check the credentials on your service page."
- "The targeting options in your username are not valid for this service. Check spelling, and do not repeat an option."
- "This service has used its traffic allowance. Add traffic to continue."
- "Your trial has closed. Buy a paid plan to continue."
- "Too many new connections per second for this service's limit." Check long lists in smaller batches.
Against a site, 403 means a private, reserved or blocked destination, 502 means Datacenter IPv6 met a site with no IPv6 address, and 503 means a closed port, no available exit, or a destination that refused or timed out. Full lists: error codes, proxy errors explained, the errors reference and anti-detect browser proxy errors.
TrueProxies in Dolphin Anty: test results
| Test | Result |
|---|---|
| Version tested | 2026.274.13459 on macOS |
| Proxy types offered | HTTP, SOCKS4, SOCKS5 and SSH. No HTTPS option. |
| Layouts accepted | Five saved credential entries worked over HTTP and SOCKS5. The documented layouts were not each tested separately; bulk addition was unavailable on the Free plan. |
| Check passes, HTTP on 8080 (of 5) | 5 of 5, including one that passed on retry |
| HTTPS on 8443 | Unavailable: the app offered no HTTPS proxy type. |
| Check passes, SOCKS5 on 1080 (of 5) | 5 of 5, including one that passed on retry |
| Messages for common mistakes | The badge showed ERROR for a wrong password, country-usa and SOCKS5 on 8080. A broken-proxy profile had Start disabled; its launch message was not captured. |
| Time zone and language matched the IP (of 3) | 3 |
| WebRTC leak test (default setting) | No unexpected public address in the one recorded run; the other two profile results were not recorded. |
| DNS leak test | The recorded run had no usable resolver evidence. WARP was active; no DNS privacy conclusion. |
| Datacenter IPv6 | Not tested. |
| Sticky session held the same IP | One session changed IP between checks seconds apart. A 24-hour hold was not verified. Sticky sessions are best effort. |
We saved 5 Traffic pack sticky sessions (US, UK, Germany, France and Canada), ran Dolphin's proxy check on each over HTTP and SOCKS5, then opened the US, UK and German sessions in profiles with our IP, WebRTC and DNS leak tests. The Free plan's 5 profiles and one-at-a-time proxy entry set the sample size. Tested on macOS.
Choosing a proxy for Dolphin Anty
Compare providers on:
- Session control: one sticky session per profile, with a lifetime you set.
- Targeting depth: country for most profiles, city or region where a country spans several time zones, ASN for network-specific tests.
- Protocols: HTTP and SOCKS5 with username and password, plus readable error reasons.
- Pricing model: per GB or per IP. On per-GB billing, Dolphin's Disable image loading switch in Settings trims traffic for every profile in the team.
- IP type: residential IPv4 for most sites, datacenter IPv6 only for IPv6-ready targets, static ISP or mobile for one IP over weeks or carrier IPs.
Where TrueProxies fits: Traffic packs cover the first four points with sticky sessions up to 24 hours, city and ASN targeting and per-GB billing. They're the wrong choice when a profile must hold one IP for weeks or needs carrier IPs: we offer neither static ISP nor mobile proxies.
Dolphin Anty proxy FAQ
What proxy format does Dolphin Anty use?
Dolphin Anty accepts host:port:login:password, login:password@host:port and, for IP-authorized proxies, host:port. Put the type first (socks5:// or http://), add :name at the end to label the saved proxy, and add an IP change link in square brackets only if your provider uses one. With TrueProxies, a full line looks like socks5://YOUR_HOST:1080:YOUR_USERNAME-country-us-session-shopus01:YOUR_PASSWORD:shopus01.
Why does Dolphin Anty say "Failed to establish a proxy connection"?
Dolphin's checker couldn't get a working connection through the proxy. With TrueProxies, the usual causes are a typo in the username options, a wrong password, a used-up or expired plan, or a network blocking the gateway. Paste the same proxy into our proxy checker or run curl on port 8080 to see why. If it passes there, try another network.
Why is my Dolphin Anty proxy not working when the check passes?
A passing check means the gateway accepted your credentials, not that every site loads. A site can refuse the IP, a Datacenter IPv6 exit can't reach sites without an IPv6 address (the gateway answers 502), and private or blocked destinations get a 403. Open our IP leak test in the profile first, then the target site, and compare with the proxy checker.
What is the best proxy for Dolphin Anty?
For most browser profiles, a residential proxy whose sticky sessions you control: one session per profile, lifetimes up to 24 hours, and city or region targeting so the time zone stays put, over HTTP or SOCKS5 with username and password. For one IP over weeks or mobile carrier IPs, you need static ISP or mobile proxies; TrueProxies offers neither.
Can I use free proxies with Dolphin Anty?
Dolphin doesn't sell its own proxies, though some plans include partner traffic. Any proxy with a host and port pastes in, up to 50 on the Free plan. Public free proxy lists are shared and rarely offer sessions or targeting, so a profile's IP and location can change without warning. To try a residential IP, use the one-hour TrueProxies free trial.
How do I set a SOCKS5 proxy in Dolphin Anty?
Prefix the string with socks5://, or pick SOCKS5 as the type in the proxy window, and use port 1080: socks5://YOUR_USERNAME-country-gb-city-london-session-shopuk01:YOUR_PASSWORD@YOUR_HOST:1080. Click the arrows to check it before saving. SOCKS5 failures carry no reason text, so if the check fails, test the same credentials over HTTP on port 8080.
Does Dolphin Anty support IPv6 proxies?
Dolphin's October 2025 update notes say WebRTC spoofing works with IPv4 and IPv6 proxies, but its docs don't cover IPv6 setup. TrueProxies residential exits are IPv4 only. Datacenter IPv6 exits reach only sites with an IPv6 address, and Dolphin won't start a profile whose proxy check fails. Our test result: Not tested.. Check each target with our IPv6 test first.
Is it legal to use proxies with Dolphin Anty?
Proxies and anti-detect browsers are legal tools in most countries. What matters is how you use them: follow each site's terms and the laws that apply to you. This is general information, not legal advice. Our acceptable use policy sets out what isn't allowed on TrueProxies.
