Market context

Why use proxies in Belarus

Online shopping in Belarus runs mostly in Russian, with Belarusian used by some publishers and state sites, and prices are in Belarusian rubles (BYN). Checkout looks different from EU stores: many shops send customers to ERIP, the national settlement system that lets people pay an order from any Belarusian bank app, terminal or cash desk. Belkart cards and ERIP are not accepted by most international sites, so price monitoring centres on domestic stores and the local arms of Russian marketplaces. Orders often go to marketplace pickup points or to Belpochta and Evropochta branches rather than the door.

Wildberries and Ozon both run Belarusian operations and are registered as dominant online platforms. Kufar is the main classifieds site for used goods, cars and property ads, and Onliner combines a price comparison catalogue with one of the country's most visited news sites. 21vek.by is a leading local online hypermarket, and Realt.by lists flats and houses for sale and rent.

Google leads search, but Yandex keeps a large second share through yandex.by, so ranking checks need both engines, and Yandex's ad network matters more here than in the EU. Google stopped new sign-ups and paused monetization for Belarus-based AdSense, AdMob and Ad Manager accounts in December 2024, so ads on Belarusian publishers come from other networks or direct deals. Personal data falls under Law No. 99-Z of 7 May 2021 on Personal Data Protection, in force since 15 November 2021.

Cross-border buying in Belarus follows the Eurasian Economic Union, the customs union Belarus shares with Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Parcels from sellers in Russia cross no customs border, while orders from shops in the EU or China are imports and can attract duty above the personal allowance. Currency habits also differ by category: Realt.by lets visitors switch flat prices between Belarusian rubles, US dollars, euros and Russian rubles, and publishes its market statistics as US dollar equivalents at the National Bank rate. Teams comparing property prices over time should note which currency each figure started in before converting.

Belarus proxy FAQ

Should I track Yandex as well as Google in Belarus?

Yes. Google leads, but yandex.by holds a large second share of searches in Belarus, far larger than in the EU, and it ranks local shops, Onliner catalogue pages and Kufar listings differently from Google. Russian-language queries dominate on both engines. Checking from a Belarusian connection matters because Yandex localises results by region, so the same query from Moscow or Vilnius returns different stores and prices.

How do people pay online in Belarus?

Many Belarusian shops offer payment through ERIP, the settlement system set up by the National Bank, which lets customers pay an order from any Belarusian bank app, terminal or bank desk. Cards on the local Belkart scheme are common, and many stores still accept payment on delivery. International sites generally do not accept ERIP or Belkart, so price monitoring should focus on domestic stores and the local arms of Wildberries and Ozon.

How does Belarus's online market compare with Russia's?

Both markets use Russian and share Wildberries and Ozon, but the Belarusian arms run as local companies with prices in Belarusian rubles. Search differs: Yandex leads in Russia, while Google leads in Belarus with Yandex second. Payments differ too, with ERIP and Belkart in Belarus against Mir cards and the Faster Payments System in Russia. A Russian price, promotion or ranking should not be read as the Belarusian one.

Does TrueProxies have residential proxies in Belarus?

Yes. 65 of 72 test requests exited in Belarus on October 1, 2026, from 53 IPs in Minsk, Brest and Vitebsk on Republican Unitary Telecommunication Enterprise Beltelecom, Unitary enterprise A1 and Mobile TeleSystems JLLC. Both plans can also target a city there; GB-based plans add region and ASN targeting.
