Since 16 July 2022, Ukraine's language law has required Ukrainian-registered online stores to load their Ukrainian version by default, with no less content than any other language version, so a visitor in Ukraine should land on Ukrainian pages even where Russian or English versions exist. Prices are in hryvnias (UAH). Delivery usually runs through Nova Poshta branches and parcel lockers, and many shoppers still pay on collection, alongside cards and bank apps such as Monobank and Privat24. Instalment plans from PrivatBank and Monobank appear on many product pages.
Rozetka is the largest online retailer and marketplace, Prom.ua hosts small and mid-sized shops, Epicentr sells home and DIY goods online, and OLX carries classifieds. Kasta and Makeup.com.ua are strong in fashion and beauty. Hotline.ua compares prices, DOM.RIA lists property and AUTO.RIA used cars. Glovo and Bolt Food compete in food delivery, and Silpo delivers groceries. Ukrainska Pravda, TSN and UNIAN are among the news sites selling display advertising.
Google dominates search, partly because Yandex, Mail.ru, VK and Odnoklassniki have been blocked in Ukraine since 2017. Many people still search in Russian as well as Ukrainian, so the same product often has two keyword sets with separate results. Personal data falls under the Law of Ukraine on Personal Data Protection (No. 2297-VI of 2010). A GDPR-style replacement, draft law No. 8153, passed first reading in November 2024.
Cross-border delivery now links Ukrainian stores with Ukrainians living abroad. Nova Poshta opened its first branch in Warsaw in October 2022 under the Nova Post name and has since expanded to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Romania, Germany and other EU countries, so orders and price checks for Ukrainian shops can involve EU addresses as well. Inside Ukraine, Ukrposhta, the state postal operator, is the main alternative for cheaper parcels, and Rozetka runs its own pickup points for orders from its marketplace. Each option changes the delivery fee and date shown at checkout, so price checks should note which one was selected.
