Market context

Why use proxies in Lebanon

Arabic, English and French all appear on Lebanese storefronts, often within the same site. Since the 2019 financial crisis much of retail has moved to US dollar pricing, with LBP shown alongside or used for small amounts, so price monitoring has to capture the currency of every listing. Cash on delivery is the default for many online stores, and money-transfer networks such as OMT and Whish Money handle payments and bill settlements that cards would cover elsewhere. The same networks also carry much of the remittance flow from the large Lebanese diaspora.

OLX Lebanon, which briefly carried the dubizzle name before a user vote kept the OLX brand, is the main classifieds site for cars, apartments and electronics, and its apartment listings are typically priced in US dollars, as property was before the crisis. Toters, founded in Beirut, is the best-known app for food and grocery delivery. Middle East Airlines, the national carrier, is the reference for fares on routes out of Beirut, the country's only commercial airport. L'Orient-Le Jour in French, An-Nahar and Al Akhbar in Arabic, and the broadcasters LBCI and MTV Lebanon are the publishers where local display campaigns appear.

Google is the dominant search engine. Because the same query can be typed in Arabic, English, French or Arabizi, the Latin-script Arabic common in messaging, rank checks need several keyword variants to reflect how Lebanese users actually search. Personal data falls under Law No. 81 of 2018 on Electronic Transactions and Personal Data.

Demand in Lebanon is strongly seasonal because many Lebanese living abroad come home in summer and over Christmas and New Year. Fares on routes into Beirut, car rental rates and short-term rentals in the mountains and on the coast climb in those weeks, then ease in spring and autumn. Winter adds a second, local season: chalets near the Mzaar Kfardebian and Faraya ski slopes are priced for December to March. Summer festivals such as Baalbek and Byblos draw visitors in the years they run. For travel and rental research, compare the same dates across seasons rather than month to month.

Lebanon proxy FAQ

Which currency do online stores in Lebanon use?

Mostly US dollars. After the 2019 financial crisis, many Lebanese retailers, supermarkets and classifieds sellers moved to dollar pricing, with LBP shown alongside or kept for small amounts. OLX Lebanon listings for cars and apartments are usually in dollars. Payment often happens in cash on delivery or through OMT and Whish Money rather than local bank cards, so checkout pages look different from Gulf markets.

What language should I use for keyword research in Lebanon?

Use several. Lebanese users search in Arabic, English and French, and many type Arabic in Latin letters with numbers, known as Arabizi. Each version of the same query returns different local businesses, publishers and ads on Google. French matters more than elsewhere in the region because of publishers such as L'Orient-Le Jour, while English dominates product and tech searches, so track all three plus common Arabizi spellings.

Do I need to register data processing in Lebanon?

Possibly. Law No. 81 of 2018 sets up a declaration system: anyone processing personal data files a declaration with the Ministry of Economy and Trade and receives a permit against it. Several common cases are exempt, including processing with the data subject's prior consent and customer data handled by businesses for legitimate purposes. Teams collecting anything tied to individuals in Lebanon should check whether a declaration is needed.

Does TrueProxies have residential proxies in Lebanon?

Yes. 62 of 72 test requests exited in Lebanon on October 1, 2026, from 48 IPs in Beirut, Tripoli and Sidon on TerraNet sal, Wave Net and Energy Bridge. Both plans can also target a city there; GB-based plans add region and ASN targeting.
