Tunisian e-commerce is written mostly in French, with Arabic on news, government and some retail sites, and Tunisian Arabic (Derja) in social media and ads. Prices are in Tunisian dinars (TND), and because the dinar is not convertible, most residents cannot pay foreign sites freely. They buy from local stores that accept domestic bank cards, the e-Dinar card from La Poste Tunisienne, wallets such as Flouci, or, very often, cash on delivery. Jumia left the country at the end of 2024, leaving online retail to Tunisian chains and specialist sites.
For price monitoring, electronics and appliance sellers such as Mytek and Tunisianet publish detailed catalogues that move with promotions. Tayara is the main general classifieds site, Automobile.tn covers new and used car prices, and Mubawab lists property for sale and rent. Traveltodo sells hotel stays in Hammamet, Sousse and Djerba, and its dinar rates for residents often differ from the euro prices foreign tour operators charge for the same hotels. Mosaïque FM, Business News and La Presse are widely read outlets for news and advertising.
French and Arabic results sit side by side on Google, the dominant engine, and French queries often compete with pages from France. Personal data falls under Organic Law No. 2004-63 of 27 July 2004 on the protection of personal data, supervised by the INPDP; a bill to replace it has been under review by parliament's rights and freedoms committee during 2026.
Summer reshapes Tunisian travel prices. Tunisians living abroad come home in large numbers in July and August, many on the CTN ferries from Marseille and Genoa and on Tunisair and Nouvelair flights from France, Italy and Germany, so ferry and air fares on those routes rise well above the rest of the year. Algerian visitors cross by land to coastal resorts, Tabarka among them, adding to hotel demand. Ramadan changes the rhythm again, with food promotions, late-evening shopping and a clothing peak before Eid. Price checks for hotels, ferries and flights therefore need to run on specific dates rather than be averaged over the year.
