Pakistani buyers search in English, Urdu script and Roman Urdu, the Latin-letter Urdu used in chats and many product searches, so keyword lists need all three. Prices are in rupees (PKR). Phone listings split into PTA-approved and non-PTA units, since imported handsets must be registered and taxed, so the same model carries two very different prices. Cash on delivery still leads marketplace checkout, while JazzCash, Easypaisa and bank transfers through the State Bank's Raast system are widely used. Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad get the widest delivery coverage and the most promotions; smaller cities often see higher fees, longer waits or fewer sellers.
Daraz.pk is the main general marketplace, and its 11.11 sale and the Ramadan and Eid season bring the year's biggest promotions. Fashion labels such as Khaadi and Sapphire sell heavily through their own sites. OLX Pakistan leads classifieds for phones, cars and household goods, PakWheels is the reference for new and used car prices, and Zameen.com is the largest property portal. foodpanda leads food delivery, while Careem ended its ride-hailing service in Pakistan in 2025, so older competitor lists need updating. Dawn, Geo News, The Express Tribune and Jang are the main news publishers carrying local display advertising, with Jang and Geo reaching the Urdu-reading audience.
Google is the dominant search engine, and Urdu-script and Roman Urdu queries return noticeably different results from English ones. Pakistan has no general data-protection law yet; a Personal Data Protection Bill has been in draft since 2023, and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 covers some misuse of data.
Travel fares are among the most watched prices in Pakistan. Domestic routes between Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar and Quetta are flown by PIA, Airblue, SereneAir and Fly Jinnah, while Daewoo Express and Faisal Movers sell intercity coach seats online and Pakistan Railways takes bookings for its long-distance trains. Fares rise sharply before Eid, when workers travel home, and flights to Jeddah and Madinah follow the Umrah and Hajj seasons, with travel agents selling Umrah packages that bundle visas, hotels and flights. Routes to Dubai, Riyadh and other Gulf cities, where many Pakistanis work, form a separate fare market of their own.
