Paraguay's online market has two faces. Spanish and Guaraní are both official, but storefronts, search and ads run mainly in Spanish, and domestic prices are shown in guaraníes (PYG) as large whole numbers such as Gs. 250.000, which scrapers need to parse without decimals. In the border cities of Ciudad del Este, Pedro Juan Caballero and Salto del Guairá, stores sell electronics and perfume to Brazilian day shoppers and quote US dollars, while the Brazilian site Compras Paraguai compares those store prices in dollars and reais.
Inside the country, Clasipar, which bills itself as Paraguay's leading classifieds site, lists cars, property and jobs, InfoCasas covers homes and rentals around Asunción and the Central department, and Monchis, a delivery app founded in Asunción, competes with PedidosYa for restaurant and supermarket orders. Mercado Libre has a Paraguayan site, though it plays a much smaller role than in Argentina or Brazil. ABC Color, Última Hora and La Nación are the main national publishers, and Tigo Money, the mobile wallet of the operator Tigo, is used alongside cards and bank transfers.
Google is the dominant search engine, and for border retailers Portuguese-language searches from Brazil are part of the audience, which is why Compras Paraguai publishes in Portuguese. Paraguay approved Law No. 7593/2025 on Personal Data Protection in November 2025, and it applies from November 2027; until then personal credit data falls under Law No. 6534/2020.
Paraguay's borders shape prices as much as its capital does. Ciudad del Este faces Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil across the Friendship Bridge, a short drive from Puerto Iguazú in Argentina, so hotel and tour prices for Iguazú Falls visitors can be compared in guaraníes, reais and Argentine pesos within one small area. Pedro Juan Caballero shares an open street border with Ponta Porã in Brazil, and Encarnación, linked by bridge to Posadas in Argentina, draws summer visitors to its river beaches and its carnival. Cross-border shopping in these cities rises and falls with the Brazilian and Argentine exchange rates, so their store prices move for reasons Asunción does not share.
