Market context

Why use proxies in Armenia

Armenian shoppers read sites in Armenian first, with Russian widely understood and English common on tech and travel pages, so a single store often keeps three language versions. Prices are in drams (AMD). Cards on the local ArCa network sit beside Visa and Mastercard at checkout, and the Idram and Telcell wallets are widely used for paying bills and online orders. Parcel-forwarding services that ship orders from US, European and Chinese stores are also widely used, so foreign marketplaces compete directly with local ones.

List.am is the country's dominant classifieds site, covering apartments, cars, electronics and jobs, and it is the usual source for tracking rents and used-goods prices in Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor. Menu.am, now operated by Yandex's local food-delivery company, and Glovo handle restaurant and grocery delivery in Yerevan, while Wildberries and Ozon ship to local pickup points and compete on price with Armenian electronics chains such as Zigzag. News.am, Armenpress and CivilNet are common targets for display-ad checks.

Google is the main search engine, but Yandex keeps a following among Russian-speaking users, so Russian-language rankings are worth checking on both. Many queries, especially for technology and travel, are typed in Russian or English, or in Armenian written with Latin letters, so a keyword list built only in Armenian script misses part of the demand. Personal data is governed by the Law on Protection of Personal Data (HO-49-N), adopted on 18 May 2015.

Travel pricing in Armenia runs on a few fixed routes and strong seasons. South Caucasus Railway, operated by Russian Railways under a long concession, runs the Yerevan to Tbilisi and Batumi sleeper through Gyumri and Vanadzor, plus a summer-only train from Yerevan to Hrazdan and Lake Sevan. Most foreign visitors arrive through Zvartnots airport outside Yerevan. Domestic demand splits by season: Lake Sevan and Dilijan in summer, the ski slopes of Tsaghkadzor in winter and the spa town of Jermuk year-round, so guesthouse and hotel rates in those towns follow the calendar. Yerevan tour operators also sell day trips to Garni, Geghard and Khor Virap.

Armenia proxy FAQ

Which search engine should I check rankings on in Armenia?

Start with Google, which most people in Armenia use for searches in Armenian and English. Add Yandex for Russian-language keywords, because many Russian speakers still use it and it can rank Russian-language pages differently. Run Armenian and Russian keyword sets separately: shops, clinics and estate agents often publish one page per language, and each version competes on its own. A check from inside Armenia also shows the local map results for Yerevan businesses.

Which classifieds and marketplaces should I monitor in Armenia?

List.am is the essential source: apartments, cars, electronics, jobs and services are all listed there, which makes Yerevan rent levels and used-car prices easy to follow week to week. For new goods, compare Wildberries and Ozon, which deliver from Russia to pickup points in Armenia, with local retailers such as Zigzag. For food and grocery delivery in Yerevan, check Menu.am and Glovo, whose menus and delivery fees are priced in drams.

How does online shopping in Armenia compare with Georgia?

Armenia belongs to the Eurasian Economic Union with Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which helps explain why Wildberries and Ozon are part of everyday shopping there. Georgia is outside the union, and its online retail leans more on local electronics chains, bank installment plans and parcel forwarders. Armenian classifieds are concentrated on List.am, while Georgian listings are split between the TNET sites and SS.ge. Prices are in dram and lari respectively.
